GAME OPENING
Welcome to Aion Teleos's first OOC mingle, as well as its first event plotting post! In the future these two things may be posted separately, but given that the event will be posted on Friday, it made the most sense to combine them for the game's opening. The general details of the coming event will be posted below to give you an idea of what your characters will be doing for the next month. Please note that sects will not be confirmed until later in the month, depending on your character's reaction to the intro event.

◆ NETWORK: Following this event, the communion network will be active! These are awakened as part of choosing a sect. Pleroma characters won't receive any immediate instructions on how to use these powers, but they are welcome to figure them out on their own. Kenoma will have it explained to them by certain NPCs in the Regent's forces.
◆ TIMELINE: The timeline for the for this first month will be a bit condensed. The event itself will ICly be occurring over the period of a bit over a week, but playtime has been scheduled to last until the end of the month. Timing wise, the events of the TDM will have been considered to happen in the first half of the Horos equivalent of March. The intro event will happen in the second half of March. From there, the timeline should go back to a 1:1 ratio.

THE EMPTY THRONE
The ritual promised in the game's first TDM is at hand. Escorted down to a massive cavern beneath the ruins, characters will made to participate in a disquieting ceremony - one that invokes the Kenoma and forcefully infects them with it. Trapped within the cavern by their captors, they'll be forced to wait out the infection's effects, with only sparse supplies being offered to them and clothing that does nothing to stand up against the cold of these subterranean ruins.
Your character initial attunement will ultimately be defined by their reaction to the Kenoma they've been infected with. There are two main options:

A) They reject its influence, survive its detrimental effects, and their perseverance cultivates the presence of the Pleroma. After a week or so they will be able to expel the Kenoma entirely, attune to the first tier of Pleroma, and have any powers they're missing return.

Though they may struggle at first, eventually they succumb, surrendering to its influence and being informed of the Regent's plans through it. Characters that accept Kenoma will be allowed out of the cavern, as long as they stay in the area and cooperate with a new NPC that will be present. Their powers will return as soon as they surrender to the Kenoma.

FUN FACTS: I'm a former artist who worked in the games industry (short-lived) now working an extremely rote and boring job at a bank. Still, it gives me time to funnel all of my creative energies into writing and drawing. In addition to RP, I enjoy reading books & manga, watching all sorts of television & anime, playing lots of video games (dreaming of the huge werewolf in Elden Ring rn), and playing D&D. I also do a lot of endgame raiding in FFXIV... I've cleared every ultimate raid and will be headed into the new one in a month or two. u_u

( content warning: Due to the source material, threading with makoto might end up to containing reference to: suicide/suicidal ideation, gore, stitches, dismemberment, decapitation, cannibalism/vore, and prostitution of a minor. I want to be very aware of and sensitive to the questionable and/or triggering nature of a lot of this content, so if you wish to either opt out of any of these or want to opt out of interaction with the character entirely, please feel free to make use of the opt-out page I made! I knew when I picked the character up that he & his canon would not be for everyone, so I encourage whatever makes you comfortable and welcome it! )
CHARACTER PITCH: The short and jokey way I usually sell him is that Makoto is both MADK's protagonist and its yandere love interest.
He was formerly a human high school student who, having perceived his own taboo desires from a younger age, summons a demon in order to exchange the opportunity to eat the demon's flesh in exchange for his life. Though he did so largely to satisfy his own kink, Makoto also intentionally wanted to give his life away before he might feel compelled to take the life of another person. Unfortunately for him, upon the satisfaction of his contract, the demon decided to turn him into one of his own kind instead of killing him, keeping him as a page/protégé/pet. He originally agreed to this thinking it might be a chance at a world that didn't completely reject him, just like the demon, J, hadn't, but he quickly finds that this new life of his doesn't feel like it's really his own and is instead being lived for the benefit and entertainment of his new demon master. Makoto declares that he won't become a demon "like how J wants" and soon swears that he will surpass, destroy, and devour him as revenge. Roughly three and a half years have passed since Makoto was transformed into a demon, and he has spent all of that time trying to discover the pathway to his goal.
The one wrinkle in all of this is that J is completely aware of Makoto's intentions and convictions and even encourages him, raising the question of whether or not this was his intention in turning Makoto into a demon in the first place. Only time will tell...
DESIRED CR: This is usually where I would cop out and say "anything," but Makoto is a very specific character, so I have to be a little more specific. Truly positive CR is most likely going to be very challenging to get with Makoto. He does sort of make "friends," but only with the express intention of keeping them for use as potential pawns, tools, bodyguards, etc. later. The thing about Makoto is that he's only become worse as a person since becoming a demon (go figure!). He has basically no redeeming characteristics!! He can be super friendly one moment and super off-putting and unsettling the next, and he will try to throw other characters off balance just to wrest a momentary feeling of superiority over them!! He will play into problematic power dynamics and heavy manipulation!! He's all about what benefits him and his end goal. And though J isn't here right now, that's not going to stop him from believing he's out there somewhere and that this whole situation is a gift-wrapped opportunity for him to claw his way to him just so he can overthrow him.
Really, I am just interested in characters who will put up with him for extended periods of time. Surpassing that, I am interested in other characters for him to either get his hooks into or for them to get their hooks into them. It's not to say he's not available for more casual and/or light-hearted CR, but on Makoto's side it will mostly be intentional and feigned — he will always be trying to extract information or whatever else useful he can hope to get from others. His positive CR will always come with some elements of negative CR. I'm sorry he's like this.
OFFERED CR: it's so hard to offer much bc like i said he has no redeeming features but
🔴 Firebrand Folks: I'm open to & interested in reaching back and handwaving some vague introduction to other characters who awoke in the Firebrand shrine as a basis for CR! Your character might remember Makoto for... being cryptic and unsettling upon awakening, needing physical help getting up the cliff (he's not exactly the most robust creature in the world, even when he's not newborn from a giant crystal), and/or pouting basically the entire way from the shrine to the camp in the ruins.
🔴 Demon Stuff: He's fairly open about being a demon, so if that's a thing that would mean anything to your character or be interesting to them, that's something?? The only real distinguishing demon features he has otherwise are his weird eyes, sutured neck, demon tongue (sometimes? I think he makes it look normal most of the time...), and draconic wings (which he usually keeps hidden...).
🔴 Quid Pro Quo: A proper demon, Makoto is always willing to make a good deal. If you have information or anything else he might be interested in, he's not shy about trading whatever he has in order to obtain it. He will be especially interested in information, potential alliances, and especially those that might include someone protecting him. He can be very dangerous, but unfortunately that's mostly limited to his barbed and/or silver tongue — he actually doesn't have much by the way of defenses except for being more difficult to kill than normal.

🔴 i'm trying so hard not to just say "vore" but unfortunately it's literally and canonically his Thing. so, i mean, it's there, even though he usually isn't super open about it? he mostly tends to fixate on his obsession with J for this (and it can come up when he's intimidating people) but OBVIOUSLY this is all up to your comfort level lmao
PLOT HOOKS: My main plan is to make him go hardcore into Kenoma support, because 1) authority and power are fun and sexy, 2) he believes that it's the quickest and most efficient way to amass enough strength to achieve his vengeance against J, and 3) after said vengeance, the whole "promised oblivion of everything that is" thing is something he could probably really vibe with. So for Pleroma folks who want a baddie to antagonize against or fellow Kenoma supporters who either want someone to (begrudgingly? or not?) work with or clash against, I'm here for all of it.
EVENT PLANS:
At first, Makoto is going to fight like hell against he influence of the Kenoma because he tends to rankle against anything that enforces its will over his own. Whether it's because of the Kenoma wearing his defenses down or a personal feeling of kinship with its essence and purpose (or bits of both?), he will, however, accept the Kenoma and join the ranks of the fuckos that have been keeping everyone captive. I'm totally down with playing with the Kenoma sickness portion of the event during the time that he is actually fighting against its presence in and influence over him. During this time he will probably be suffering from the effects of little food and little warmth, but he won't do much about them because the struggle against the invading Kenoma force is much more concerning to him than paltry things like starving or freezing to death. He would benefit from the rarest, kindest soul who might make sure that doesn't happen to him.
If you want someone to actively menace your character into joining Kenoma (either successfully or not! up to you!), please hit me up. ☺️ That's right up his alley.

i am totally canon blind here but makoto seems so interesting??? like an interesting little pile of unpleasantness and honestly, sometimes someone is wretched and i am here for that. i thought his conversation with Abel on the TDM was Fun, and as far as annoyingly persistent characters who won't be dissuaded by the unnerving nor outright aggressive or manipulative,

there's also something terribly ironic about a catholic priest trying to find some kernel of goodness in a demon, huh. (let's ignore the fact Abel is also a vampire-eating-vampire who devours people, and sometimes himself, and is generally gross there's just so many layers to this cr i could see rly)

I AM SIMILARLY CANONBLIND but i thoroughly enjoyed these two's wacky dynamic on the tdm. i am very happy you find him interesting despite how horrid he is, he is indeed here to be wretched and to never change (at least, not for the better). i love the idea of makoto biting off a bit more than he can chew (phrasing... not intended...) with abel and THINKING he might be useful later but just being... foiled at every turn because of abel's general everything
honestly it is very sweet of him even though i think he will be looking a good and long time LOL though who knows....... (no really makoto will probably just get 300% nastier to prove him wrong)

yes!!! i find makoto super interesting but i also, admittedly, have a deep love of dark canons and characters........ slides my eyes away,
either way i think letting them naturally do whatever the hell it is they're going to do and see how it goes sounds splendid personally and i am eagerly looking forward to tossing them at one another more in the future!!! and honestly that is the best, just letting two unherdable cats at each other and see how it goes (miserably, probably, and y'know what i'm fine with that tbh)

i genuinely have no idea how these two will get along but i am Ready to find out. they are at least both kenoma firebrands though so they've got that going for them, i am happy to hash out a handwaved intro so we don't have to do that part all over again.....i could also see them swapping info later down the line, maybe?? 🤔 eustace likes (""likes"" more like tolerates) useful people, for the most part. the demon part might be a little sketch but as long as makoto isn't actively terrorizing people he can probably deal

i am also totally okay to handwave an initial meeting! (i had actually wanted to tag into your tl and then ran out of time...) i think they will be able to share useful information w one another despite being on the same team because makoto is a far more political creature than eustace could ever be, but he doesn't have the wherewithal to be stealthy and, um... martially competent... like eustace can, so i think they will be gathering enough interesting info from different sources that they will have plenty of opportunity to trade
fortunately (?) makoto is relatively harmless (for a demon, anyway). he loves to menace people and mess with their heads, but he's pretty much just a twink with dragon wings who acts like he's all that but couldn't throw a punch to save his life tbh
tho eustace is that kind of stoic type that he would just be rarin to mess with, just to try to get a rise out of him LOL he has to pass the time somehow

This guy is going Kenoma, has demon-summoning backstory (and the face scar to prove it), and is shiny and easy to trick, so I am here to offer him for hooks etc., etc. if that's of interest.
