GAME OPENING
Welcome to Aion Teleos's first OOC mingle, as well as its first event plotting post! In the future these two things may be posted separately, but given that the event will be posted on Friday, it made the most sense to combine them for the game's opening. The general details of the coming event will be posted below to give you an idea of what your characters will be doing for the next month. Please note that sects will not be confirmed until later in the month, depending on your character's reaction to the intro event.
❖ THINGS TO NOTE
❖ THINGS TO NOTE
◆ NETWORK: Following this event, the communion network will be active! These are awakened as part of choosing a sect. Pleroma characters won't receive any immediate instructions on how to use these powers, but they are welcome to figure them out on their own. Kenoma will have it explained to them by certain NPCs in the Regent's forces.
◆ TIMELINE: The timeline for the for this first month will be a bit condensed. The event itself will ICly be occurring over the period of a bit over a week, but playtime has been scheduled to last until the end of the month. Timing wise, the events of the TDM will have been considered to happen in the first half of the Horos equivalent of March. The intro event will happen in the second half of March. From there, the timeline should go back to a 1:1 ratio.

THE EMPTY THRONE
The ritual promised in the game's first TDM is at hand. Escorted down to a massive cavern beneath the ruins, characters will made to participate in a disquieting ceremony - one that invokes the Kenoma and forcefully infects them with it. Trapped within the cavern by their captors, they'll be forced to wait out the infection's effects, with only sparse supplies being offered to them and clothing that does nothing to stand up against the cold of these subterranean ruins.
Your character initial attunement will ultimately be defined by their reaction to the Kenoma they've been infected with. There are two main options:
You DO NOT have to commit to the sect indicated on your app if these opening circumstances make you inclined to go another direction. Here are some of the plot hooks that will be present in the event information:
Your character initial attunement will ultimately be defined by their reaction to the Kenoma they've been infected with. There are two main options:
A) They reject its influence, survive its detrimental effects, and their perseverance cultivates the presence of the Pleroma. After a week or so they will be able to expel the Kenoma entirely, attune to the first tier of Pleroma, and have any powers they're missing return.
B) The presence of the Kenoma speaks to them on a spiritual level, their own despair responding to it. Though they may struggle at first, eventually they succumb, surrendering to its influence and being informed of the Regent's plans through it. Characters that accept Kenoma will be allowed out of the cavern, as long as they stay in the area and cooperate with a new NPC that will be present. Their powers will return as soon as they surrender to the Kenoma.

◆ KENOMA SICKNESS: The infection, while being resisted, will cause various detrimental effects. These include persistent dark thoughts, accidental psychic communication with other characters, involuntary transformations in line with Aion changes but based on negative self conception, and general physical illness. Your character should be affected by at least one of these things.
◆ COMPETITIVE SURVIVAL: The soldiers are giving characters a limited amount of supplies and are not attempting to distribute it evenly. Hoarding supplies is an option, and will likely result in others going hungry and/or freezing.
◆ PERSUASION: Characters who accept the Kenoma will essentially swap over to being part of the military force trapping people in the caverns. They may receive orders from an NPC asking them to 'persuade' characters who have not succumbed to the Kenoma yet by whatever means necessary, as long as it isn't killing them or using mind control.
All of this will be fleshed out further in the actual event post, this summary is just to give you an idea of what to plan for. That said, let's introduce ourselves!◆ COMPETITIVE SURVIVAL: The soldiers are giving characters a limited amount of supplies and are not attempting to distribute it evenly. NAME: Minegishi Gen
CANON: Boy's Abyss
LEGACY: Lover
INTENDED SECT: Kenoma at first, but will probably waver heavily!
CHARACTER PITCH: A horrible delinquent teenager. But beneath that surly, violent, prickly exterior hides ... an even pricklier, defensive, wounded attitude. The standard pattern where he used to be a decent kid before being warped by bad circumstances (✨trauma! long-term manipulation! smalltown shittiness!✨) and years of secret, fruitless pining and heartbreak. His author compares him to Hans Christian Andersen's Little Mermaid, which says a lot about his character trajectory, but is also just a very funny mental image.
DESIRED CR: Open to anything, of course! But since that helps no one, some more specific suggestions:
- He's weak to people who seem kind of spacey and helpless and too doormat-y for their own good, and would be a tiny bit nicer to them in his surly, blunt, protective way. Anyone who fits that bill (even if it's just because they're temporarily dying of Kenoma sickness) would probably be getting CR off to a much better start!
- Functional adults? He generally acts tough and independent, but he's still an idiot teenager, if any characters are the type to notice and/or worry. He's not used to people caring about him in that vein any more, so it might get CR off on an interesting note!
- Good influences ... ? He's never really had a positive role model in his life, and he's also coming from a very low canon-point, so he'll be a little more vulnerable to shows of kindness. That is to say, he'll still probably bristle and act defensive, but he'll definitely remember it and might be more influenced by it than expected.
- Conversely, people he can butt heads with! He's shitty and blunt and combative, and I am absolutely up for playing out negative CR! Arguments are grand, but also he's a normie and I am more than okay with him picking a fight above his weight class and getting his ass whooped, he deserves some humbling.
- Actual bad influences ... ? The lad's spent a good chunk of his life getting manipulated, what's another round! Mutually-toxic influences would also be grand!
- Anyone who can tolerate him, honestly. I am so sorry for his everything. That said, while he's kind of insufferable in general, he tends to mellow out with time and does really value his relationships to other people. Anyone patient enough to deal with him will probably be ... well, not rewarded, necessarily, but will at least get a slowly-evolving experience out of it?
OFFERED CR: God, what do I even say. Gen's kind of a problematic dumpster fire, but he's disgustingly devoted to people he likes and is really just desperate to be loved. So if anyone wants a character who'll prod at theirs for some headbutting and conflict (verbal or physical), he's your man! But also for any characters open to a fixer-upper, there's still a good, ultra-protective and loyal kid buried under all that surliness. He tends to get quite attached to people he decides he likes, for better or for worse.
Oh, also he's a total normie, so he's available both to deadpan point out how ridiculous other character's settings/powers are, and/or for some coaching on how to deal with all this fantasy nonsense that he's definitely going to get exasperated by.
PLOT HOOKS: Nothing too specific at the moment, but Gen's coming from an incredibly low canon point, so he'll be really lost and malleable and susceptible to outside influences for a while. I'd love to see how his CR naturally ends up affecting him!
EVENT PLANS: Getting sick but refusing to acknowledge it, and then giving into Kenoma before too long. Maybe tsundere-ly chucking his supplies at someone who looks like they need it, just because he's too unwell to eat them himself? I'd also love to explore the accidental psychic communication of the Kenoma sickness if anyone is open to it, just because he's still in denial about being in a fantasy setting and would have a lil freakout about it. Also he's sharper and a bit more perceptive than he seems, so getting a glimpse in other people's thoughts might net some interesting conclusions about the other party!
Otherwise, he'll probably be doing a half-assed job of following orders and trying to persuade Pleroma people to give in, just so the NPCs will leave him alone. So if any Pleroma folks wants to deal with that, or maybe even prove their conviction by fending off his lame attempts, that's an option!
ANYTHING ELSE? I'm absolutely mortified by the timing of it, but some RL obligations are going to be beating my ass starting on Friday and right through the weekend. Fingers crossed that I'll be able to crawl my way into the event without too much delay ... ! There are sooo many charming characters here, I'm really excited to get to thread with folks!

I'm here with one (1) functional adult (sort of, he has issues but he keeps them all locked away because he's got healthy coping mechanisms like that) and someone he can butt heads with because...uhhh...Eustace is also pretty blunt and uncaring towards most strangers. This might blow up in my face but it's fine, I'll make it work. Technically he has a softer spot for kids/teens so I just. Need to draw that out somehow.
Either way, I always end up surprised by CR so if you're game, I'm down to see how things end up!

But yes please, I'd love to have CR with him! I suppose if they're both starting off at Kenoma, they'll at least have that in common to keep them from just stoically ignoring each other? Maybe they can grudgingly cooperate on a task under the NPCs' watchful eyes and start bonding that way ... !

And yes, the characters in GBF are good but the grind/grid.........................is definitely not, I'm glad you were able to free yourself and I hope the same for myself one day. Maybe after they finally release a summer alt of Eustace.
Hehe, I'm excited for CR though! I'm sure we can find some basic task for them to cooperate (terribly) on, though sorry in advance if/when Eustace tells Gen to shut up. Also do you mind if I add you on plurk?

But yes, definitely looking forward to them inevitably butting heads I mean getting along wonderfully on their first job together! :^) And ah, I don't mind at all, please go ahead!

for the event, makoto is going to fight against the kenoma for a while (mostly out of principle) and be dreadfully sick for a while so... if you wanted to do something in that vein with them, im down, or for literally anything else!!
no subject
And gosh, yes please, I'd love to see how these two interact going forth! I have to admit I'm really tickled by the thought of them being tentative allies in the same faction, and Gen letting his guard down just enough that Makoto can sink his claws in, hehe. At any rate, he can definitely be that insufferable shithead who recovers from the sickness faster (because he gave in faster, smh) and comes over just to lord it over Makoto while he's still ailing ... surely the start to a wonderful and lasting friendship!

UGH i also love the idea of this... i also love the idea of something in gen hearkening back to his high school days somehow dredging up the last straggling remainders of his humanity and making him just a lil bit crazier than usual... i love the idea of makoto somehow feeling like he has to either prove something to him (or prove something to himself, through him???) because of it..... THERE ARE SO MANY POSSIBILITIES
that sounds perfect, please do. makoto will wait for the ideal moment to repay that in kind

I feel like they're almost certainly going to butt heads in the long run given Kim is an unshakable Pleroma, but at least for now, Gen respects his fighting skills and composure (and patience) enough to offer him one (1) cigarette if he ever gets his hands on a pack. High praise!

Kim can definitely be a nagging shoulder angel who will gladly accept nicotine bribes, ONE IS ALL HE NEEDS

Also, Gen's too much of a surly teenager to ever admit it, but since he spends a lot of his time back home hanging around the dudes working for his dad's shady construction company, he'd find something vaguely comforting and familiar in being around a low-key older toughguy ... Maybe he'll even refrain from being too much of a raging asshole towards Amos now and again!

Especially with them being the same legacy and going the same sect at least at first, I feel like there's definitely something there to get an inroads going between the two of them!
