GAME OPENING
Welcome to Aion Teleos's first OOC mingle, as well as its first event plotting post! In the future these two things may be posted separately, but given that the event will be posted on Friday, it made the most sense to combine them for the game's opening. The general details of the coming event will be posted below to give you an idea of what your characters will be doing for the next month. Please note that sects will not be confirmed until later in the month, depending on your character's reaction to the intro event.

◆ NETWORK: Following this event, the communion network will be active! These are awakened as part of choosing a sect. Pleroma characters won't receive any immediate instructions on how to use these powers, but they are welcome to figure them out on their own. Kenoma will have it explained to them by certain NPCs in the Regent's forces.
◆ TIMELINE: The timeline for the for this first month will be a bit condensed. The event itself will ICly be occurring over the period of a bit over a week, but playtime has been scheduled to last until the end of the month. Timing wise, the events of the TDM will have been considered to happen in the first half of the Horos equivalent of March. The intro event will happen in the second half of March. From there, the timeline should go back to a 1:1 ratio.

THE EMPTY THRONE
The ritual promised in the game's first TDM is at hand. Escorted down to a massive cavern beneath the ruins, characters will made to participate in a disquieting ceremony - one that invokes the Kenoma and forcefully infects them with it. Trapped within the cavern by their captors, they'll be forced to wait out the infection's effects, with only sparse supplies being offered to them and clothing that does nothing to stand up against the cold of these subterranean ruins.
Your character initial attunement will ultimately be defined by their reaction to the Kenoma they've been infected with. There are two main options:

A) They reject its influence, survive its detrimental effects, and their perseverance cultivates the presence of the Pleroma. After a week or so they will be able to expel the Kenoma entirely, attune to the first tier of Pleroma, and have any powers they're missing return.
B) The presence of the Kenoma speaks to them on a spiritual level, their own despair responding to it. Though they may struggle at first, eventually they succumb, surrendering to its influence and being informed of the Regent's plans through it. Characters that accept Kenoma will be allowed out of the cavern, as long as they stay in the area and cooperate with a new NPC that will be present. Their powers will return as soon as they surrender to the Kenoma.

Though they may struggle at first, eventually they succumb, surrendering to its influence and being informed of the Regent's plans through it. These include persistent dark thoughts, accidental psychic communication with other characters, involuntary transformations in line with Aion changes but based on negative self conception, and general physical illness. Your character should be affected by at least one of these things.
◆ COMPETITIVE SURVIVAL: The soldiers are giving characters a limited amount of supplies and are not attempting to distribute it evenly. Hoarding supplies is an option, and will likely result in others going hungry and/or freezing.
◆ PERSUASION: Characters who accept the Kenoma will essentially swap over to being part of the military force trapping people in the caverns. They may receive orders from an NPC asking them to 'persuade' characters who have not succumbed to the Kenoma yet by whatever means necessary, as long as it isn't killing them or using mind control.
All of this will be fleshed out further in the actual event post, this summary is just to give you an idea of what to plan for. CANON: Final Fantasy XIV
LEGACY: Emet is going to be a Champion! The goal in his story is to 'right' the 'wrong' that befell the world so long ago. He views this as the greater good and ultimately helpful to the protagonists and the world...even if it kills a lot of people!
INTENDED SECT: Kenoma. Darkness and despair and bad decisions? Why yes.
CHARACTER PITCH: Would you like to interact with a villain from the Critically Acclaimed MMORPG MMO Final Fantasy XIV with an expanded free trial which you can play through the entirety of A Realm Reborn and the award-winning Heavensward expansion up to level 60 for free with no restrictions on playtime? Well, you're in luck. I am offering you one perfectly sad grandpa from that very canon.
But more seriously: Emet-Selch's goal throughout the game is to restore the world to what it once was. Long ago, his home was destroyed by an unforeseen disaster; he lost friends and the world that was precious to him. So over thousands of years, he has slowly unraveled by the grief that consumes him from that loss. He feels it's his solemn obligation to save those who he lost and relentlessly pursues his goals with an overwhelming amount of determination. He refuses to let go of what once was and that ultimately leads him to ruin. As for how that will translate here into this game? Probably badly.
DESIRED CR: I am up for any kind of CR. Cross canon, positive CR, negative CR, unknown kind of CR. Let's see where it goes! I find that unexpected CR developing out of nowhere is usually my favorite.
He's known for being pretty unpredictable and will likely not follow the standard antagonist formula against the Pleroma. He will probably try and win from the shadows, so any potentially scheming CR would be of particular interest. And, of course, any people full of sunshine ready to ruin his day with their cheer is also welcome just because of the contrasting personalities. 8]
Additionally, since this world is new he will want to explore it and get used to how it functions considering how different it is, so (reluctant?) exploring buddies would be fun!
OFFERED CR: /slams fist on table I am up for him causing so many problems.
Emet-Selch is a powerful (yet somehow reasonable?) mage that has no issue with talking to those who are enemy or ...not enemies. Emet-Selch radiates "this is such a bother I'm so tired" energy so it may take some effort to actually get him to participate in anything outside of what he directly wants to do. His usual fare would likely be scheming, exploring the new world to get a handle on it, and maybe being just a little conceited/dramatic.
PLOT HOOKS: Emet-Selch is completely going to try and win over the Pleroma. Perhaps try and manipulate them into thinking that they're in the wrong without necessarily fighting them. If your character has any inclination of doubt or uncertainty...well. 8] I'm all for others trying to reason with him in return, too.
He will completely be trying to familiarize himself with the world as quick as possible and thoroughly as possible to give himself every advantage. He will also be trying to get as many powers as he can as quick as he can. The goal will be to conquer this place and somehow get his world back.
EVENT PLANS: There's no doubt in my mind that the Kenoma will latch onto the despair and grief he feels! Soo. Kenoma time it is.
As for everything else, Luckily Emet-Selch has spent most of this life in the cold north, so I imagine he has some degree of tolerance for the cold and won't "freeze", but the Kenoma sickness might come across as coming down ill from the cold. Plz provide hot soup and blanket.
He will be waiting on the sidelines for people to start fighting over supplies and probably make off with a couple of things while they do their thing. Please continue.
