GAME OPENING

Welcome to Aion Teleos's first OOC mingle, as well as its first event plotting post! In the future these two things may be posted separately, but given that the event will be posted on Friday, it made the most sense to combine them for the game's opening. The general details of the coming event will be posted below to give you an idea of what your characters will be doing for the next month. Please note that sects will not be confirmed until later in the month, depending on your character's reaction to the intro event.

❖ THINGS TO NOTE

◆ NETWORK: Following this event, the communion network will be active! These are awakened as part of choosing a sect. Pleroma characters won't receive any immediate instructions on how to use these powers, but they are welcome to figure them out on their own. Kenoma will have it explained to them by certain NPCs in the Regent's forces.

◆ TIMELINE: The timeline for the for this first month will be a bit condensed. The event itself will ICly be occurring over the period of a bit over a week, but playtime has been scheduled to last until the end of the month. Timing wise, the events of the TDM will have been considered to happen in the first half of the Horos equivalent of March. The intro event will happen in the second half of March. From there, the timeline should go back to a 1:1 ratio.

THE EMPTY THRONE

The ritual promised in the game's first TDM is at hand. Escorted down to a massive cavern beneath the ruins, characters will made to participate in a disquieting ceremony - one that invokes the Kenoma and forcefully infects them with it. Trapped within the cavern by their captors, they'll be forced to wait out the infection's effects, with only sparse supplies being offered to them and clothing that does nothing to stand up against the cold of these subterranean ruins.

Your character initial attunement will ultimately be defined by their reaction to the Kenoma they've been infected with. There are two main options:

A) They reject its influence, survive its detrimental effects, and their perseverance cultivates the presence of the Pleroma. After a week or so they will be able to expel the Kenoma entirely, attune to the first tier of Pleroma, and have any powers they're missing return.

B) The presence of the Kenoma speaks to them on a spiritual level, their own despair responding to it. Though they may struggle at first, eventually they succumb, surrendering to its influence and being informed of the Regent's plans through it. Characters that accept Kenoma will be allowed out of the cavern, as long as they stay in the area and cooperate with a new NPC that will be present. Their powers will return as soon as they surrender to the Kenoma.

You DO NOT have to commit to the sect indicated on your app if these opening circumstances make you inclined to go another direction. Here are some of the plot hooks that will be present in the event information:

◆ KENOMA SICKNESS: The infection, while being resisted, will cause various detrimental effects. These include persistent dark thoughts, accidental psychic communication with other characters, involuntary transformations in line with Aion changes but based on negative self conception, and general physical illness. Your character should be affected by at least one of these things.

◆ COMPETITIVE SURVIVAL: The soldiers are giving characters a limited amount of supplies and are not attempting to distribute it evenly. Hoarding supplies is an option, and will likely result in others going hungry and/or freezing.

◆ PERSUASION: Characters who accept the Kenoma will essentially swap over to being part of the military force trapping people in the caverns. They may receive orders from an NPC asking them to 'persuade' characters who have not succumbed to the Kenoma yet by whatever means necessary, as long as it isn't killing them or using mind control.

All of this will be fleshed out further in the actual event post, this summary is just to give you an idea of what to plan for. That said, let's introduce ourselves!

FUN FACTS: I never know what to put in these. Do I even have any fun facts. Anyway, I mostly yell about mobile games including ones that were shut down at very inopportune times (not naming any names!!!!!!!!) or FFXIV since I'm finally caught up and have a lot of thoughts. CHARACTER PITCH:

Vicious is pretty much exactly what you'd expect from the name and his appearance. He's loud, rude, and aggressively himself at all times. He likes fighting and drinking and being aggressively himself - but he's also his world's #1 most wanted person. Not even for anything he did, but because he's the Great Transgressor and is (supposedly) the cause of everything bad in the world. He's spent his entire life on the run and has difficulties trusting people as a result. This also means that he's not really familiar with people in general; he's easily fascinated just by being treated the same as anyone else, for example. Underneath his rough exterior and general asshole behavior, he is fiercely loyal to those who earn it and all too eager to believe in those who genuinely try to be kind and helpful, especially when it involves fighting a literal god. Basically, he'd be a villain if it weren't for being a member of the protag party (and the character development he gets from that).

He's from fairly early on in canon, however, which means that he can easily fall into the pattern of hating everyone and just wanting to set the world on fire. So fun times!!

DESIRED CR:

Always down for anything and everything! I don't have any plans set in stone, so seeing where Vicious goes based on his cr and in-game development is always fun! For general things that tend to work well:

★ Drinking buddies/people to just chill with. Particularly those who are loud and obnoxiously themselves as well; Vicious gets along well with people who are generally pretty outgoing and/or weird.
★ Anyone who wants to spar; he fights to kill but he does enjoy throwing down just because. He's gonna be real bored if he can't fight. He's going to be waaaay less of a threat without any powers, so if you'd like to teach him how to use a more practical weapon, he'd be down to learn!
★ People who will be patient with him. Vicious doesn't sit like, ever, but people who will help teach him things or will explain things to him without being condescending will always be appreciated, whether he admits it or not!!
★ Protags. By that I specifically mean the do-gooder types who will absolutely sacrifice themselves if it means helping people as a whole. If they're the sort to hope speech, Vicious will absolutely like them. He would never admit this, though.

OFFERED CR:

Do you want a dumbass to fret over? A drinking buddy? A sparring partner who needs to learn how to chill? Vicious can offer your character Shenanigans mostly because he can never sit still, so that's always an option too!! In-depth conversations about his past and his general hatred of people is very unlikely to come up because he prefers to deflect and pretend like nothing ever gets to him, but hey you never know!!

PLOT HOOKS:

Generally I'm interested in seeing how things go with Vicious - his current canon point leads into Kenoma very nicely, but his general character development in Crestoria leads him into believing in the protag (Kanata) and his optimistic hopeful attitude. While Vicious isn't the sort to embrace that for himself, he pledges himself to help Kanata no matter what, even when he doesn't fully believe in those ideals because he believes in Kanata. So will he also end up switching over to Team Hope here, or will he fall further into despair surrounded by likeminded people?? Who knows!! Exploring this is definitely the main one, but really, I'm here for just about anything with this setting.

EVENT PLANS:

Vicious is definitely not the sort of person to give in willingly, because he's a contrary asshole. Still, despair does tend to fit with his general mindset pretty well, so eventually he will give into Kenoma. It's gonna take awhile, the Kenoma sickness is absolutely going to kick his ass, but that's ultimately going to be the outcome for this event. With that said, I'm definitely interested in playing with accidental psychic communication - that sounds like a great way to jump into some cr! Vicious has a canon transformation (that he can't control and therefore doesn't use), so having him transform into something similar-yet-different will definitely freak him out and I'd love to play with that.

Otherwise, Vicious will be hoarding his supplies and not sharing... unless your poor goddamn character just really, desperately needs help and it won't really hurt him to throw them a bone. He's not exactly a kind person, but if he can do something to help and it won't horribly inconvenience him, he typically will. Please feel free to manipulate him. He can't usually tell when most people are lying anyway.

Of course, I'm definitely open to other ideas, so hit me up if there's something specific you'd like to do, or if you'd just like to figure out how we can make cr work! Maybe someone can convince him to wear a shirt— no, that'll never happen.

As you should!! Eleven is definitely exactly the sort of protag he'd like. Unfortunately, Vicious is way more of a pain in the ass than Erik.

But yeah! Can relate to 'being blamed for everything for no reason' and spending time on the run. Be aggressively treated like a person. But also Kenoma why?? I'm very interested to see how these two would interact- what El would make of him.

Listen, it's fine, these things happen. Sometimes you try to set the world on fire, nbd. I'm definitely interested in seeing how cr goes between them as well!!

Potential to be a villain except he's a member of the protagonist group... well hello there

Amos is good for being a drinking buddy, sparring, and treating him just like anybody else! He also has an absurd abundance of patience. Like, he's just really, really chill. I'm canonblind but could see these two potentially becoming buds.

Sometimes you get dragged into protag shenanigans against your will—

He sounds like he'd be a great fit!! Vicious is pretty straightforward so I imagine a first meeting will decide exactly how their cr will go! I'm definitely looking forward to it - it sounds like they could get along well!

Or sometimes you actively try to join the protag group because you're afraid of what you'll do if you aren't with them! Okay now this is a cool dissonance

Amos is also really straightforward so yeah, it should be a good stage-setter! I'll keep an eye out for you~~

I can tag into yours! I'm not 100% certain when I'll be able to get to tagouts though (definitely by the end of this weekend at worst!) so if you see something you want to hit in mine first then go for it. But if not, I will be hitting you up for sure~

Thank u for saving Vicious from his own game... Shakes Scamco and how absolutely TERRIBLY they handled Cresty overall

That is I am somewhat canon familiar because I did play Cresty for a bit and Vicious/Kanana were easily the best things from it, but lost interest halfway through in the plot direction plus everything about the gacha and gameplay being just... not great didn't help. I can offer someone who frets over dumbasses because she is incapable of NOT doing that, and a sparring partner who's very patient too? Ciel also can't believe in ideals, but can believe the pure and determined shounens carrying them. Trading memos and impressions on those optimistic ~~(naive)~~ Pleromas could potentially be a thing over drinks? She's not really one for alcohol, just tea is fine for her, but this may be the bestworst way to start making memos of your ~enemy faction~...

I don't blame you at all lmao... I stuck with Crestoria solely for the story and some of their really weird character choices for who they included in the gacha, but man Vicious endeared himself to me and I had to save him. So I can dunk him into despair hell. You know how it goes.

I'm not familiar with Ciel's canon, but PLEASE fret over him being a dumbass because that's just Vicious baby. He can't NOT be a dumbass. She definitely sounds like she could be a really good influence(???) on him(?????) or at the very least it sounds like some very interesting cr!!

There are so many interesting characters out there too good for their canon that only does them dirty or doesn't ~~make them suffer enough~~ get into their full potential, that's what we're all here for amirite

Summed up in a nutshell let's say she was sorta cursed at birth, and if she wasn't born her hometown would most probably still be around. So IS it a sin to be born? Whatever one may answer depending on their morality, can't argue with the cold hard fact that aforementioned village no longer exists. There's some thematic overlap for sure whether they actually get into it at some point or not, looking forward to mutual shenanigans!

Exactly!! And oh man that is some EXCELLENT thematic overlap! I imagine that there will be a way for it to come up eventually through an event or something if they don't end up bringing it up themselves, and I look forward to seeing how that goes!!
