EVENT #6: By Heaven or Hell

By Heaven or Hell
THE STORY SO FAR...
During the month of Innoseri, the Pleroma and Kenoma were mobilized to the city of Venera to investigate a mysterious affliction of the residents. They were succumbing to a strange apathy that slowly disconnected them from the reality, to the point that many would lose interest in even necessary activities to live. They ran the risk of starving, dying of dehydration, or simply wandering into danger with no sense of preservation.

By entering the city, both sects were exposed to the effects of the illness, which turned out even worse for Aions. In a twist of fate, it was during that time that the Pleroma Aion Estinien met his end at the hands of the Kenoma Aion Makoto, shattering his Innocence-petrified body. It was this act of profane violence that summoned the god-like creature that has caused the illness, sending a great metaphysical scream echoing across the city, demanding to know what had been done to it's child.

The winged being now colloquially known as the Innocence Entity manifested for the first time, in the form of a great cloud of wings floating above the city. It turned it's attentions to the gathered Aions, striking down any that challenged it, enraged by the acts of violence committed in the city it had hopes to envelope in a haze of endless peace. Abel, a Pleroma who had come to Estinien's defense, realized that the entity seemed be acting to protect Estinien, who it considered its ward after he succumbed to the illness its power invoked. Abel beseeched his allies to stay their hand and begged the Innocence leave him and the city be.

The Innocence Entity was reluctant, arguing that life without its 'blessing' would be filled with suffering and strife. Abel, Himeka, Ryunosuke, and Alphinaud, the four Pleroma present at the time, insisted to it that life was worth living despite that pain that came along with it, and promised they could care for Estinien in its stead. Accepting their vow, the entity bound them all to a contract that would be broken if they failed to shield him from suffering. It left Venera and the illness faded.

Last month, the Kenoma were deployed to Venera and to Godsblood with the intent of culling dissenters and citizens who showed disloyalty to the empire. During this conflict, the capture of Ryunosuke and Thoma drew Estinien into a battle against several Kenoma. Outnumbered and disadvantaged, the pain and panic Estinien experienced summoned the Innocence Entity once more. It possessed Estinien's body, using its power to dispense of the Kenoma challenging him, all while lashing against the Pleroma it saw as having broken their vows. This divine punishment fell upon Abel and Himeka as they were facing off against Ciel and Emet-Selch in Godsblood. Taking advantage of their suddenly prone enemies, the two Kenoma delivered them to the Regent.

The Kenoma had long-since hoped to capture Estinien, to use his connection to the entity as a weapon against it, but now the perfect bait had fallen into their hands. As the Pleroma rally to save their captured comrades, the Kenoma prepare to turn circumstances to their advantage, and to perhaps eliminate the Innocence Entity's threat once and for all...

INCLUDED EVENT PROMPTS
◆ BURNED AT THE STAKE: In an effort to force the Pleroma's hand, the Regent will be scheduling the public burning of Abel and Himeka in Achamoth. After the failed public execution in Godsblood, why not try again! This will be set up to occur in a public square near the Citadel. The Pleroma will be in a race against time to save them before both their bodies and their shards are destroyed.

◆ INNOCENCE ON FIRE: As the Pleroma enter the city, the Innocence Entity, previously disinterested in fighting on behalf of Aions it considers oath breakers, will seemingly have a change of heart. It will offer its power to Estinien who will, in turn, temporarily ascend to boss monster level during this siege, wielding both the power of the Innocent and the Firebrand. This will be run as an official boss encounter in collaboration with Estinien's player, the mechanics of which will be explained along with the post. In addition, the radiance of the Innocence Entity will rob most Achamoth NPCs of their will to fight, leading to a conflict largely between Aions. Those of the Innocent Legacy will receive strange communion from the entity itself, which they can respond to as they will.

◆ FIREBRANDS RISING: As if summoned by the Pleroma's rebellious actions against the Regent's empire, Pleroma Firebrands participating in the raid will be blessed with additional power that will amplify along with the strength of their defiant conviction. This power can be extended, to a lesser to degree, by those fighting alongside them that are inspired by their example. In opposition, the Firebrands of the Kenoma will hold a natural resistance to the Innocent's assaults, and will find themselves with the ability to 'inspire' limited amounts of NPCs into defying the power robbing them of their will. In general, all Firebrands will feel supernaturally uninhibited by all that would hold them back from achieving their desires, whether those bonds be emotional or physical.

MOD NOTE: All characters who go participate in the event log will be awarded 1 Token, so please make sure to mark that on your AC. You will not receive the token if you don't claim it. For new players, they will be permitted to spend this token for use during the event, though this will only be relevant for those with the Normie Discount.

We would also like to be clear and say that the outcome of this event has been predetermined by the players most closely involved (Himeka and Abel will escape, Estinien will be captured) but everyone else's fates will be up in the air. The event itself will go up and take place on August 17th.

Childe is here for every miserable thing you can think of on the Pleroma side, and maybe on the Kenoma side if you want to go there. If you want your character fucked up, or a Kenoma needs a good excuse to avoid being dissipated when they want to do an otherwise severe injury against a Pleroma. He's also a firebrand, so cool he can be souped up.

He's changed his tune, and he'll be going in to dissipte every time except for a very few individuals.

He's going to specifically seek Hayame and Lumine out before having to divert his attention to Estinien as he's the biggest baddest thing out there atm.
So yeah, I'm here for PVP and for you the options are:
    - dissipation
    - epic battle clash
    - severe injury
    - minor injury (we can find a way to pull Childe off of everyone).

I'm also open for him getting severely hurt, injured, or even dissipated if a couple people wanna gang up on him. He would be most likely to get dissipated by Estinien if it happens, but if a few Pleroma wanna take him out so he can't lend his strength against Estinien, that's awesome too. I just don't know how much info the Pleroma have on him to realize what he can do, yet.

He'll definitely use his "second form" abilities in this fight and only Lumine's seen that, but as far as his monster abyss form... the Regent either has to order him to do it or we plan out a significant thing (aka if he gets jumped by multiple pleroma, he HAS to use it as well as against boss ver Estinien.)

Anything super intense I would prefer to determine by mod roll unless you already have a specific outcome that's really interesting/we can come up with something cool. This is because I'm not really committed one way or another to how badly I want Childe to suffer and will let the event itself dictate that.

One big note to mention is that regardless of what any Pleroma or Kenoma have seen, he absolutely cannot be reasoned with when on the battlefield. He'll only heel directly to the Regent.

The last thing, if it's one on one PVP, Childe can get very physically suggestive if he really gets into the fight. By default, I don't do this. I'm going to have a permissions post for it after this raid since he's no longer being passive in fighting, but for now if you're interested in that, you have to specifically let me know in the comments. The other thing is that if he gets to this point, he will be out to torture your character like a psychopath (he's like a cake and plays with his food,) so we need to discuss your limits to that comfort wise!

Also, I will have him use his whale at least once, so people will be able to hear and see that pretty easily. It'll be about as big as the mods will allow with the Firebrand buff and the overall cap, which I'll be asking the mods about, but it will not be something like a one-shot damage dealer. Your character will absolutely be able to get up and still fight after its usage, even if their head might be literally swimming from the impact. The main thing he'd use it for would be is to literally scatter the Pleroma apart so they have a more difficult time relying on each other... and also put out all you crazy fire Pleroma types, at least temporarily. It can still pack a wallop due to the fact it's a mass of water and could technically crush someone or break their neck, but that's not how it will be used here and I'd rather everyone just know it exists and maybe go for a small surf ride C: You can see what it looks like here: youtube link

Anyway, hit me up if you want a real crazy clash.

There are a few pleroma he MIGHT spare if he runs into them.

By default, he will participate in boss monster Estinien fight because oh my god a crazy powerful winged dragon monster...thingy. I don't have any specific plans for this, though.

Sticks leggy out for suggestive 1v1. Pls creep on Syr.

We might wanna work out the shrine fight details (tho I'm still up for continuing to thread it) but Syrlya generally makes himself Hard To Hit with his magic (teleporting, stealth, blocking spells) while going for direct blows so he was probably slippery with Childe since my impression is Childe is at the power cap?

Excellent, you got it. Syr got a spot reserved.

Yes, that sounds great, we can totally continue but details would be A+. I assumed Childe is only at power cap with his Abyss Form, and maybe really close with his "second form," too. He's really skilled but for the sake of fairness, I wanted him to be properly tiered with his three forms for fun for everyone. he won't reveal either to Syr during the shrine for a whole slew of reasons, including that both harm him. So Syr will def be able to avoid him and any of his magic attacks (pretty much entirely especially since it's in a cave.) Childe does prefer melee combat, and I'm sure Syr will earn him using his melee skills and abandon the bow.

However, Childe's blades are hydro element. Does Syr have any resistance to elemental damage itself, too? He does have physical dual blades on him in this case, but he will definitely default to his elemental formed weaponry before physical ones.

GOT IT somehow I assumed his hydromancy was also at cap.

He does not have elemental/magic attack resistance so if his hydro blades are meant to cut like steel (magically or just because they're like high velocity water chainsaws) they'll be equally effective! He's also a melee fighter predominately which Childe will def know by now. Syr's main thing as a Mesmer is attempting to dominate the positioning of the field so he can levy attacks without getting severely hit himself, but physically he's very mortal and his raw power is like... in the middle of "ordinary human" to "power cap".

oh actually, when you say it like that I get what you mean more now.

I guess it's at cap technically, but he doesn't use it at cap in his normal form because he's an arrogant slob. In his other forms, he still has the hydro ability, so my assumption is as he goes through his forms, his hydromancy will get more accurate/on target/more deadly as he modifies how he wants to use it, but in game he's usually seen using his hydromancy for taking out npc normies so he doesn't have to actually kill them, and casual fights so I can't imagine Syr would have much difficulties avoiding those things. Physically at his first stage he's also very normal strength (he's physically strong and above average for a human, but he's also able to be fended off by someone stronger that's a normie just the same as everyone else relative to their aion abilities.) So he can use his hydromancy much faster in his second and third forms. He likes to keep things "fair" when he fights and relies mostly on his hydromancy as "arrows" and projectiles and weapon forger. Physical skill is where he's focused. His second and third forms are only when he's like "ok i'm getting real sick of this dude," (and he'll definitely use second form on Syr in their raid fight).

The one thing he DOES have in normal form is his rip-tide ability, which can be super problematic depending on how you as a player want the narrative to go, but I don't think he'll actively try to use it on Syr until the raid, especially since he's really good at dodging magic hits. I'll have a full list of his abilities when I post his top level so no one is surprised.

I see I see! Yeah I can see Syr pushing an escalation to his second form just because he's used to battling powerful things so he has enough experience to be A Problem, even though he can't match his raw power.

It'll need confirmation from Aru but would you say Miyako rejecting the kenoma might've been what broke up the shrine fight?

[personal profile] vapour 2022-08-12 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, that totally works! If Aru wants to have her suffering Kenoma goop on the way back or whatever after the fight, we can figure out a way for Syr to grab her and run if that works better.

THUMBS UP as for the raid, we can have this happen early on so that childe can get distracted by estinien and run off to fight him when he dragons out?
vapour: (Default)

[personal profile] vapour 2022-08-12 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, that sounds great! Or it can be a little further into the raid if you want Syr to beat on other kenomies more easily; since creeping on means blood and injury. Also, it works as a good excuse to let Syr go without him getting too injured without any any need for us to think of something really specific to break them up.

Whatcha think?

[personal profile] chronosynthesis 2022-08-12 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
So far his only other big fight is the fatal one right at the end, so I'm flexible! We could fudge the timing against Innostinien and have that pop off at whatever point we feel they're roughed up enough, leaving childe to divert from Syr when Estinien becomes way more powerful of s threat.

if childe ends up dissipated... can kaeya snatch his shard so pleroma don't get to keep it?

If things get too bad for onii-chan, maybe there can be a bit of role reversal and Majorita can save HIM for once if you aren't looking to get your shard taken.
