NAME: Rand al'Thor CANON: Wheel of Time (TV) LEGACY: Martyr SECT: Pleroma
CHARACTER PITCH: Area sheepherder discovers he's the reincarnation of a man who literally broke the world. This puts a real damper on his plans to live a quiet life. As a man who can channel, he's doomed to encroaching madness the more he uses his power. As the Dragon Reborn, he's destined to cause enormous upheavals in their world, with the strong possibility that he may break it like he did in his last lifetime. On top of all this, he has to contend with a host of monsters and powerful baddies, plus the impending confrontation with the Dark One that will almost certainly claim his life. He's doing his best to handle the pressure and trauma of it all, but it's a lot for a guy who expected to live a quiet existence on his father's farm.
As of Rand's canon point, he's faced what he thinks is his Final Confrontation with the Big Bad (spoilers: it was not), and surprised himself by escaping with his life. He feels extremely awesome about the fact that the world seems to have ended anyway. He's also grappling with a lot of existential angst around some recent discoveries he made about his past, plus the fact that his ability to channel (use magic, basically) is inevitably going to erode at his sanity and kill him. Fun times.
DESIRED CR: i love positive or negative CR and everything in between, so i'm pretty open! i'll warn that rand is a Destined Chosen One type who can be difficult about opening up to people, especially given the above givens about what his magic is doing to him....but he's generally here to be friendly and help out newbie pleromas! he's been working on leveling up in swordplay and magic use so those are always possible hooks with him. as he gets increasingly into combat situations, he'll always be in some need of healers since he's a bit,, of a glass cannon,,, so that's a thing.

âžž nice guy who's here to help! since he was in the last batch of newbies, he feels pretty strongly about filling in people as best he can...especially about why the kenoma are Awful, take his word for it, they sUCK. but more seriously he's definitely here to drop some goss about the seriousness of the conflict for anyone who'd want it...mixed feelings about the sect divide and war he does NOT have
âžž he offers lessons in archery and related skills (bow- and arrow-making) fairly regularly and is happy to teach anyone! also in some basic wilderness survival skills, since he grew up running around in forests and playing in rivers
âžž magic-user with pretty mixed feelings about it! he kept his ability to channel a secret until very recently in game, but he's started leaning into that part of his identity now and will be more open to talking about it. due to the closes eyes gendered nature of magic in his world, he's often especially a bit interested in other guy magical types...he's had very little exposure in canon (because of the, going mad issue) and they're typically highly stigmatized
âžž he hails from a small town and is really a farmer/shepherd at heart, so anyone with similarly agrarian backgrounds are fairly endearing to him,,, he can't be the only one here who thinks godsblood is HUGE and the ocean is SCARY
âžž he's also part of the dragon-themed club, if only in a Prophesied Title kind of sense (For Now)
PLOT HOOKS:
âžž his home base is in godsblood currently, but he's often in godsblood or greentruth, so it's easy to catch him in either place! in light of recent events he tends to lay low in the city and spends a lot of time training in greentruth, but it's easy to make either setting work.
âžž as i alluded to before, he's well on his way to being a hardliner for pleroma so if anyone wants talks about why! the fight matters! etc
âžž he's also quickly gone from a relative non-combatant to gravitating towards the fight and grappling with everything that entails, so if that's of interest hit me up!
EVENT PLANS: he is so keen to get to achamoth and vent some angerfight some folks save his friends !! so he'll definitely be part of the raid plot in some fashion.
