( he's not sure how much their master might be willing to deal with them. so far, it's seemed like they largely command obedience by way of the "stick" rather than the "carrot," but they have also gone so far as to suggest that they would take into account their suggestions for the world they sought to create in the wake of this one. to makoto, that didn't matter — no world he's lived in felt as though it fit perfectly to him, and he isn't really interested in the brain experiment it would take to create a world where someone like him could feel that they belonged perfectly (it would probably be a world incompatible with the ideals of most other people). so he focuses instead on the here and now, interested in what he can squeeze out of his life on horos before the end inevitably (hopefully?) came.

but who's to say that sebastian still couldn't try to find some information about the Regent himself from such a thing down the line? they certainly do seem to reward those that give much of themselves and very often, even if one doesn't succeed in their endeavors.

maybe sebastian's deluxe pop-tart could be unearthed from the void... who can say.

makoto ponders the other demon's question. in some ways, he might be one of the best Kenoma to ask — the Regent is still a mystery to them all, but he has been closest to them, having been brought what he felt like was close to their essence before having a piece of it injected into himself. even then, he can't say he knows anything for certain. he just has what he experienced, what he felt, and how he interpreted it. he's not sure he's willing to give away all of those personal interpretations to someone looking for something concrete, so he takes a moment to try to sift through what he will say and what he will keep to himself. )

I'm afraid none of us know for certain. We only know what we have found out from the people of this world, what we have seen, and what we have heard from them ourselves.

It has been made clear to us that they have existed for as long as recorded history of this plane can recall. It would be a mistake, however, to think of them merely as an extension of the Kenoma. Based on what I have experienced, the Kenoma doesn't have a will of its own, except to destroy every instance of life it can reach — if the Kenoma is like an overwhelming flood of ravening entropic energy, the Regent shackles, guides, and focuses it to a goal rather than leave it to its mindlessness.

They have also admitted to us that they are the one that brought us Aions to Horos in the first place.
