I do not know too much of magic myself... But I have once heard it described in a similar way. That magic is a force that plucks at the threads of Creation to create a new song, one that should have been impossible.

...Though I have also heard much more cynical descriptions as well, I admit. Humanity does not always have the best grasp on what is actually "magic", after all. Perception has muddied the waters somewhat.
