Unlike Estinien, he isn't burdened by emotions — largely in part because he's incapable of recognizing the sadness that overtakes him. ] There were good people in it. Better people than me. They should be here; they aren't. But even that's not enough. Everything's broken beyond repair. The Regent wants to make it right for those born to suffer, those of us who were never supposed to have a chance — [ he inadvertently gestures towards himself; turns out this is personal — ] and... it's not like people dying is a good thing. But this is bigger than all of us. Bigger than any one of us will ever be able to see. And doing the right thing isn't always easy.
[ So yes, it is how he wants to save the world; the genuine good intentions of someone who's been hurt too badly to know any better.
