it's that second yank that catches him by some surprise. he purses his lips, squeezes his eyes shut for a moment, the sharp pain a shock to his system. how stupid that he can barely raise a hand, can't ignite the air around them, but he can still feel every little sensation--- all of them bad. in a way, it's a solid reminder that this is no dream. no illusion brought from passing on into another life. he is still unfortunately on his first.
