[ He would easily make the journey on his own. Really, it feels like that's the destination, anyway. However long you walk this path with another, no matter what, you'll meet the end alone. But there's something nice in the certainty of someone else alongside him, so even amid all of the emptiness, he accepts her with something analogous to gratitude.

Amos makes his way further down the path, looks over at her as she speaks. ]


Yeah.

[ His hands are at his sides; his voice is just as hollow as their surroundings. Everything from before — the worlds, the bursts of creation, even the other path — he might comprehend why someone else would choose to go to them. But he's already far too empty himself to have any appreciation for them. Hell, he might even have contempt. They're what you could have had; they're what you never got. Something vicious rises in him, and is only quelled by how natural the barrenness of their surroundings feels. ]

You know, sometimes, I thought it was just me. Feeling this happen to everything... [ and he has to take a moment, to find the words, ] it's like relief.
