Estinien exhales wearily, because he invited this upon himself by saying something so unspecific and idealistic. While he feels that this was more or less the moral of the Final Days, it's not as if he doesn't have qualifiers.

"...I don't mean that no man or beast could ever need to be slain." Gods know he certainly doesn't conduct himself as if that's the case. He's killed plenty of men out of necessity who probably in no way deserved it on a karmic level. "Only that... the imperfections of life are not a sign that we should surrender ourselves to oblivion. Only that suffering is inevitable... that the beauty in life is finding the moments of peace and joy in a world that is not effortlessly filled with such things."

He turns his gaze to the floor of his boat, his heart aching for the places and people he fears he may have left behind.

"We must needs continue regardless."
