He's just a guy whose weapon of choice happens to be a sword, and he's well aware that he can't go toe to toe with the greats at Rhodes Island. Hell, even without her weapon of choice in hand, Miss Ch'en managed to trounce him easily.

He doesn't have to have a preoccupation with fellow sword users to recognize Flamebringer the minute he sees the other man's face. He is (or was) still getting the lay of the land, but he was also making it a point to learn a little something about other operators as he went.

There's a hollow kind of comfort in knowing he still apparently has a chance to get to know a couple in this new world. He smiles apologetically as he holds out the piece of bread instead. It's the only thing he's got to his name at the moment. ]
