Abel can see something complicated cross Eleven's expression, but he doesn't know the young man well enough to determine its source. As he offers some further insight into his perspective on Emet-Selch, the priest feels the nature of their situation growing more complex by the moment.

"...I don't know if I could say he has no love for them," he surmises after a brief hesitation. "But I think the pain of what he's lost has clouded his ability to judge all else."

Grief, loss, sorrow... rage. Yearning. Mourning. Lifetimes filled with it were more than enough to drive any man more than slightly mad. Emet-Selch was long-lived; to carry such a burden left... marks.

"If he thinks the Regent can give him back some hope of seeing what he's lost again, then-- he will be properly motivated to see it through. But, did you happen to see that mark on his hand?"
