Perhaps it is folly, or perhaps it's Abel simply hoping to see things where they aren't - but the pain that man had expressed in the cavern... his wish to have his people, his world back again had seemed so heartbreakingly sincere. If the Regent had offered Emet-Selch a way to achieve those goals, perhaps it is no mystery why he is where he is.

And if what Estinien, what Miss Himeka had said was true - the lengths he might go to in order to secure that end should not be taken lightly, either.

It's a troublesome predicament. Even so, part of Abel believes Emet-Selch came in good will. Whether his faith is rewarded or not is left to be seen as he and Eleven begin their trek toward the shrine's entrance.

"Do you think that he's up to something? ...Well, up to something malicious, I mean? Do you think it's possible he was being sincere?"
